Denmark´s only company working in smart gas metering, FLONIDAN A/S, appoints new CEO. After heading the company for more than five years Sten Dyrmose resigns from his position as CEO of the company placed in Horsens. New CEO is Karsten Omann, who takes over the position with immediate effect. Karsten Omann has been recruited from within the company, where he has been working as COO and member of the top management since 2019.

FLONIDAN, owned by the danish-based AVK Group, appoints new Chief Executive Officer. Karsten Omann takes over the position from former CEO Sten Dyrmose, who has decided to step down.

“Following the landmark order from the Dutch energy consortium SMM back in 2016 FLONIDAN embarked on a journey of growth and has experienced a remarkable development already,” says Chairman of the Board Hans Ottosen. Hans Ottosen worked as CEO in FLONIDAN until 2016 and headed the sales negotiations that led to the landmark order. “Both the Board of Directors and the AVK top management have had an excellent cooperation with Sten Dyrmose, and we are proud of the results, that have been achieved in the past five years. We respect his wish to pursue new challenges and wish him success in his future endeavours. Karsten Omann was an obvious choice for the management position in FLONIDAN. He has great insight in the industry and together with the management team and the 60 employees he will be able to keep focus and take us to the next step of our strategic journey. We look forward to expanding our international activities even further.”

Focus on both Europe and Asia

Karsten Omann is excited about his new role and sees great potential for further development of the company.

“FLONIDAN has undergone a strong strategic development in recent years, and we have a clear and defined target for the coming years. Our top priority now is to maintain focus on the European gas meter markets while expanding and accelerating our business in Asia. I look forward to my new role and to cooperating with the employees of FLONIDAN, the Board of Directors and the AVK top management. Karsten Omann steps in shortly after FLONIDAN presented a record-breaking annual result for 2020, but expressed moderate expectations for the coming fiscal year, after Corona led to severe drops in the installation rates for gas meters.

New challenges await

After five years as CEO in FLONIDAN Sten Dyrmose is leaving to pursue new opportunities.

“It has been an extremely exciting time leading FLONIDAN – many changes and new initiatives. FLONIDAN has achieved a remarkable position in the gas meter market, serving large customers with large orders. I am very proud of the management team and I am convinced, that FLONIDAN is in the best of hands with Karsten. I am looking forward to following the continued growth and success of the company,” says Sten Dyrmose.

About Karsten Omann

Karsten Omann came to FLONIDAN in 2019 as COO with full responsibility for production, NPI, purchasing and logistics.

Prior to working in FLONIDAN Karsten Omann served as Interim Managing Director for KK Wind Solutions in Poland, where he also held the position as Head of Logistics. Karsten also worked as COO for BB Electronics as well as Vice President for Operations and Service in Spectralink.

Kasten Omann has a Master of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Aarhus. He lives in Northern Aarhus with his wife Ulla, with whom he has four adult daughters. Outside work Karsten plays tennis and renovates his house.
