Martin always had a passion for electronics and engineering and eventually decided to turn it into a career path. Graduating as Bachelor of Electronic Engineering, specialised in Embedded Software, he was offered a job as software engineer at FLONIDAN.
“I came straight from school, but was given trust and responsibility, right from the start. I represented the company at a customer meeting only weeks after my start and I quickly became more outgoing and confident with the growing responsibility".
Martin works with the implementation of technical specifications and requirements for smart gas meters – a task he manages together with his fellow engineer colleagues.
“The team has grown since I started in 2014. We are more people both in development and testing and we have a really great and productive team. We do continuous optimization and have introduced new technologies, more automated test procedures and bigger integration test".
Working with smart gas meters Martin has growing focus on data security and data encryption.
"Cryptographic technology is a fairly new and challenging task, but I like challenges in my job. Only when challenged, can we evolve and improve and I like to keep my skills up to date".
"It’s not only my job; it's my passion".
Buggi has a M.Sc. in Integrated Management systems. She has been with FLONIDAN since 2015 and applied for an opening for a HSE Coordinator.
"The job description appealed to me right away. It was spot on in terms of job content and work environment. I like to take new initiatives; create systems and structure and make a real difference, and I had every chance of doing that in this job".
Buggis first task was to obtain a ISO 27001 Information Security certification, - a tuff and challenging job.
"It was a huge task – but I had full support from my manager every step of the way. I learned a lot and we achieved the ISO 27001 certificate".
Up until now Buggi has headed three certifications, the latest being ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
"I like to initiate changes for the better and in my job I am allowed to take action, make changes and see the results. That is what drives me and that is what makes it truly exciting and challenging to work here".
Another major project is the FAIR meter project; an international partnership, committed to developing and implementing circular energy meters.
"We strive for full transparency in the supply chain, a higher standard in the industry, lower exposure to risks and lower CO² footprint. Ultimately we want to contribute to a world, where we lower the exploitation of resources and people.
It is by far the most ambitious and entrepreneurial project I´ve worked with".
Marianne works in the production team. She joined FLONIDAN in 2009 and handles the calibration of smart gas meters.
”Joining the production team in FLONIDAN was very different from any previous job I have had. The work environment here is very positive, with an informal and open communication, based on mutual trust and responsibility. I have always been the shy type, but that all changed, when I came here.”
Marianne was trained as meter operator in the gas flow meter laboratory; a job she also holds today. Besides that, Marianne assists the gas meter assembly line.
"There is a high degree of employee involvement in the production department. We have short lines of communication; take initiate and have direct contact to the colleagues in other departments. I thrive in this atmosphere. We are always busy, time flies and I am always happy biking to and from work".
Apart from the 10 km bike ride, Marianne runs, does gymnastics and enjoy football.
"We have various fitness activities in the company, but I mostly exercise football from the spectator seat. As a FLONIDAN employee me and my family enjoy free entrance to local football matches".
Jens holds a M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering and joined FLONIDAN in 2015. Prior to FLONIDAN Jens worked as a R&D Director in an American company.
"It appealed to me, that the company is Danish ownership. I share the values and attitudes of the owners; the leadership culture is very likeable and the corporate plans are long-term and visionary".
After several years in telecommunications entering the energy industry also provides an interesting change for Jens.
"Denmark is frontrunner in energy, and although the energy industry, like every other industry, is undergoing digital transformation, there is still a high demand for long-life products. It sets different requirements to the products we design and develop; especially smart gas meters, which are battery powered".
With years of work experience in R&D Jens is focusing on strengthening the software development at FLONIDAN.
“FLONIDAN is a medium-sized company, but with every third employee in R&D we are able to change and navigate really quick. We are agile and good at challenging each other in a constructive way. As a result, we develop good, well thought-out solutions, geared for commercial success and true usability".
Boosting the team performance and showing results is what motivates Jens the most
"I have a competitive nature, but team efforts matter the most to me. Winning as a team requires so much more than an individual effort. And I think we are good at that in FLONIDAN, mainly because we have the right mix of potential, integrity, cooperation and respect".
